When it happens to me I usually ignore it. But I also live in the Midwestern US and we generally don't stand very close to each other the way I've heard people in some other countries do. At least where I live drops of spit are uncommon because we still keep covid distances here. Its become a habit for us and we consider keeping a certain amount of distance when talking polite!
