What these people like that do not seem to understand is systemic oppression isnt designed to stop individuals from pursuing excellence or having ambition. The systems are meant to throw obstacles in the path of the GROUP! Individual people making it out of poverty doesn't do a dam thing for the GROUP from which they came.

That one person managed to dodge all the obstacle or even two or three or ten people doesn't mean that everyone is capable of dodging them, and there have been plenty f people who dodged a lot of different obstacle only to get tripped up by one that showed up after they were successful, like that poor sports player who was standing outside a hotel minding his own business when he was tackled by a cop out of seemingly nowhere.

The key to anti-racism is removal of the obstacles. I'm all for people taking personal responsibility and not hamstringing themselves by developing bad habits but apparently not everyone is capable of that either. You make the choices you can make to maximize your in life chances, but the rest is entrely up to fate/destiny/chance, and sometimes other people's good or bad choices.
