We live in a time where not only do they no longer get to define racism, or control the narrative, they are receiving significant pushback, from us telling them not just what racism actually is, but that prioritizing their definition of it is actually racist. WE feel bold enough to tell them to “stop talking”, “be quiet”, “shutup and let us speak now”, and those messages have got to be infuriating to people who are not used to being spoken back to like that.
These are people whose comfort, whether physical or emotional, has been catered to their whole life. It must be galling to have to sit with discomfort for any reason.
