Well not unique. I believe it happened to you, I just think it probably was something that happened because it was a "manufactured" complaint, that whoever bothered you adopted as their own opinion despite the evidence of their actual senses.

I've seen that a lot in the past few years, of the media creating discourse, where there was previously none, and skewing it in one direction or another, and people just adopting the opinions of the talking heads on TV.
