We need to acknowledge the fact that there is a contingent of deeply juvenile, unempathetic, disturbed, and often, white people who, for all intents and purposes, are nothing more than cruel school yard bullies. Having found something, anything, that bothers marginalized peoples, their reaction is always to “double down” on the assault!

I remember several years back there was an epidemic of noose hanging in the US that occurred after one such incident happened to one of the Black drivers at Indy. Some people saw that he was disturbed by that, and fully understanding that Black people didn’t like it or that it bothered them, such people decided to plague other Black people in their workplaces with images of nooses.

We need to acknowledge and come to terms with the idea that some white people, while not being card carrying members of various Klans or racist groups, are still fully onboard with the idea of bullying marginalized people, and such people (probably) cannot be saved or reasoned with. They need to be held to account for their behavior and only other (more decent) white people can do that, (instead of being silent or afraid).
