This right here! The reason they believe Europe didnt have any diversity is becasue that's how it has always been depicteddi n mainstream media for the last 100 years of film and TV.

People who make these arguemnts never stop to think that the rest of hte world still existed durng the Medieval era, that China and Japan were making all sorts of cultural inroads, Africa and the Middle East are sitting right there, Muslims existed, Jewish people were there the whole time, many of these cultures were wealthy, and that the people from those cultures traveled and traded extensively, but the only way that most of the past has ever been depicted in American media is white (and Christian).

So people who make arguments to me about "historical accuracy" have no idea what theyre talking about, even though its ridiculous to make that argument about a genre in which dragons and trolls exist. I know they didnt actually study any history. They watched a handful of movies and read a few stories written by striaght white men and think they know all there is to know about that era.
