This kind of reaction can even be triggered in white people I've known for years! Especially after they've learned some new and unexpected thing they never attributed to me. That just shows me their mind is still full of stereotypes of who I am and the things they think can and could happen to me.

Often the only things white people think can happen to black people only involve trauma and misery. Life's most joyous and wildest events don't seem to occur to them.

This is one of the unexpected side effects of the media feeding everyone a steady diet of black misery. Then they act like they don't know how to handle it when we show joy! I witnessed this before the release of Black Panther and every moment since.

Whenever we experience life's worst moments you have those white people waiting in the wings to kick us while we're feeling low, but when we're happy, they still will take a moment out of their busy day to fly over and take a dump on your brand new car!
