This. It's really irksome to me, to have behavior that white westerners engage in ascribed to all of humanity. I call it "white universalism". I especially hate when scientific or sociological studies are done with only white westerners in them, but somehow the results always seem to translate into a description of all of humanity, which makes no effort to take into account that different cultures exist, or that not all of those cultures are white, or are ging to react in any way the same as white western people.
I like to use the example of the novel Lord of the Rings. it is understood by most literary analysts that the author was making a very specific critique of English boy's school culture, but for some reason white people (and it is ever only white people I see do this) the behavior of the characters in the book are used as a description of all humanity.
Placed under a specific set of criteria white westerners will behave a certain way, and try to normalize any negative behavior by claiming it is indicative of humanity.
