This is yet another man box issue. Women and girls live our whole lives in guard against predators. We learn from a very young age that there are people in the world who will use and harm us. Most men live their lives as if they were perfectly safe. The don't live a life of knowing others might prey on them which makes them very vulnerable and then since men don't have institutions in place just in case of harm the aftermath is even worse. Women are at least encouraged to acknowledge that it happened. Men can't do any of that. Women catch a lot of shit for talking about it but men get mocked for it and somehow that feels so much worse.
