This is why I've always said that "whiteness" is a form of narcissism. It's a version of main character syndrome, where, like little children, not only must they be the center of everyone's else's attention, that attention must be positive, and/or make them feel good about themselves.

Within "whiteness" there is a deep well of insecurity, that cannot allow other people to be in the spotlight, or take any kind of lead. I've observed this kind of narcissistic attitude in even the nicest white people, ones who have done the work to not be racist, but they still have this huge blindspot.
