This is the part of the discussion that just proves to me that the person talking either didn't do their research or they lack media literacy. There are a lot of people who believe that racism is just one group of people not liking or simply picking on another group of people.

They refuse to believe, no matter how often it's explained, that actual racism involves having the power to control the lives of other groups of people, by passing laws, and forming organizations and institutions that impact their lives.

No matter how much I might dislike (or even discriminate against) a white person, I cannot actually be racist to them because I simply do not have enough power, either collectively or individually, to derail their life, the lives of their entire community, and their whole family. However, I can engage in racism towards other BIPoC, by actively participating in white supremacy.
