This is one of the huge reasons I so loved this movie.

Also the writers managed to keep Miles at the center of the story, by making him an emotional center for the other characters, while still giving them character. It is Gwen’s and Peter’s relationship with Miles, (and his general wholesomeness), that helps them accomplish their emotional goals.
