This is especially ironic, especially considering how white people (white men in particular) always want to be “heroes”, but when it comes to actually doing the things that would save a human life (like gun control, or mask wearing) they’ve got a bajillion arguments against doing so, almost all of the reasons being self serving, and view the detention or taking of Black lives as heroic.

There are hundreds of myths about America, about themselves, that white men have been socialized to believe, most of it imparted to them through mainstream media narratives of white male heroism/vigilantism.
