This insanity has been here the whole time, but none of us saw it up close like this before social media, and it couldn’t have metastasized in the way it has without the existence of internet, and decades of Fox News. There have always been people around who believed “things” like this. They were largely responsible for keeping yellow rags like The Weekly World News in business, but now they got Facebook to fill those old roles.
