This! I think a more interesting story would have seen a team up between this motherless innocent, and the powerful mentor to find what both of them are searching for: a family. They two get together but somehow things go wrong and Strange has to correct it without destroying either of them. That way we get a much more interesting story than Wanda the menace, Strange still gets to be the hero and the focus, and America Chavez doesn’t have her role in the movie get overpowered by another.
