This! Americans are only interested in punishing people for what they think someone did wrong. Took drugs? Punishment! Sold drugs because of lack of free education and poverty? Jail! Just being poor and and standing in the wrong spot? Prison! Americans have a thousand different ways of punishing people they simply don’t like. At every opportunity that we have to use either the carrot or the stick to influence behavior, Americans always choose to beat its citizens with the stick!
