They refuse to understand that their opinions of us are not new. Many of us have weathered the storm of constantly being told we "ain't shit" since we were children, and made the decision, a long time ago, that they can't put you in your place, that "you can't be put anywhere you don't want to be".

What is some anonymous fool on the internet to someone like me, who has had to forge her identity in a culture that is constantly telling me that I have no worth? I didn't get to where I am by allowing myself to be humbled by a scared man-child on social media. I've had professional haters trying to tell me I'm small. They ain't gonna be the one.
