These explanations make sense to me. I’m from the Southern US where everyone always wants to make sure everyone is always fed, and no kid is ever hungry, even when you can’t afford to feed other kids. In many Black cultures giving food is a show of love.
My mom was like that and it was how I was raised, but I very much understand these reasons.
