The social mediasphere obviously doesn't understand that other human beings grow and change as they reach full adulthood and o guess expected these people to remain exactly the same people they were many years ago.

I read this as somewhat cautionary as this is also the fallout of courting the "edgy" crowd, the kind of audience that seems more interested in being dramatic, than in being empathetic or understanding.
