The movie I think comes closest to a depiction of what an apocalyptic future might be like is the terminally depressing The Road. Everything about that world is sad, thoroughly un-exciting, and gray. There are no jacked up, gas fueled, car chases with scantily clad women, softly growing vegetables in green fields, or mysteriously un-looted pharmacies. Just humanity’s slow weary decline. So I guess that movie isn’t going to be anyone’s favorite.
