I’ve observed that people of weak character have never been incentivized to have strong moral character. He’s been playing the game of life on, what the SciFi writer John Scalzi termed, “the lowest difficulty setting”. Which is why the moment he experienced any pushback or repercussions for his behavior, he immediately started whining about being a victim.
