Thank you for writing this. it answered a lot of questions. H&M is really popular in my neck of the woods. People really like their products. So as a Black woman, I was deeply, and genuinely, curious as to how this event happened. Didn’t they see what was incredibly obvious to our eyes?
Also, Black Americans in particular, because of the history of race relations in this country, tend to be especially sensitive about such images, so of course, the image was so blatantly obvious, that it felt like it could only have been done on purpose. I’m willing to accept that it was not. I can’t speak for others though.
