Thank you for sharing your perspective on this. I make a habit of reading about the social struggles of others beyond my Black womanhood, as a way to foster sympathy between different groups, and this was really informative. Asian men and Black women have a lot on common and for a awhile there was this thing where the two groups were trying to connect with each other.

What a lot of people don’t take into account is that people pay attention to Black social issues because we are, and always have been, incredibly loud about the things we want, and not because we have more favor or influence. We are agitators because that sometimes works. We have a saying in the Black community that a closed mouth doesn’t get fed.
