Thank you for calling out this beauty double standard. Women of color, have long asked,why celebrities who have drastically changed their skin tones, from light to, in some cases, very dark, (like Ariana Grande), don’t get accused of trying to look Black, (and this is even after she has based her later career on adopting an Afro-Latina persona.) Grandeks natural appearance is very pale and bland, her more “exotic” appearance today.
The politics behind the articles isn’t what is stated, but that the opposite is never stated, or even examined. The point of view from which the topic is written is all the clue one needs to understand the writer’s agenda.
