Sometimes this inability to laugh, at least for me, stems from not knowing whether or not what I'm being told is funny! Sometimes I'm confused and don't know if I'm supposed to laugh or not, because the impulse is there, but I've learned on occasion, it's not okay to laugh at some things.

For example, I watched a movie called Ravenous years ago. The first time I didn't know it was supposed to be a very funny Horror Comedy, and I couldn't finish it, because I was deeply confused, and kind of angry. After being told it was okay to give in to the impulse to laugh, I watched it again and found the humor. But the first time I was upset because I wanted to laugh but thought, as I sometimes was told, that my laughter was inappropriate!
