Sometimes its jealousy, because some men don't want you to have outside interests. They think they're supposed to be all that you need in the world, and that all of your energy and attention should be directed to only their wants, needs, and interests. You're not supposed to have a self outside of them, even though they claim that your having a self is what attracted them.
