Quite a few people capitalized off the D&D Panic. There were fictional books written (I found a Horror novel based on the panic at my local library when I was about 16), and then there was the movie based on the same panic about role playing games, which starred Tom Hanks.
Even when I was a teenager I could smell the bullshit wafting off of this panic, all the way over in the 'hood, where we didn't even play D&D! The Satanic Panic had so many fronts, daycare centers, roleplaying games, so-called Satanic Backmasking in music, and TV shows and movies.
All of it was a lying hot mess, and now they descendants of that same crowd (or perhaps the same crowd but older) have done it again with transphobia and "woke" culture.
