Probably! because whenever I see Lizzo going through Hell on social media (or any Black woman entertainer for that matter, like Megan Thee Stallion, Rihanna, or Leslie Jones) all I ever hear from white feminists are crickets! They always have energy for trying to shame and cajole us into carrying water for their causes, but are never anywhere to be heard or seen when it comes to our issues. This is why I’m not an adherent of feminism in general. I tend to agree more fully with womanism, an ideology created by Alice Walker that was expressly created concerning the needs and priorities of Black women, which is intersectional for all women, not just for the conventionally pretty, middle class, western, and white.
As far as white women are concerned, they act like women of color don’t even represent womanhood, and don’t need support or advocacy of any kind. From what I’ve seen, their version of feminism is only interested in protecting the needs and priorities that are only of concern specifically to them. From what ive seen few of them support or even so much as have words of praise or encouragement for other kinds of women.
I’m cheering for everybody black. Madonna is rich, white, and conventionally attractive. She’s gonna be fine.
