People don't understand that for the artist the body is nothing more or different than any other object in the room that we could be drawing. Those outside of this profession or this activity still see a human being. Artists see an object or a problem to be solved.

I've always been fascinated by popular depictions in media of artists and models as being involved in some kind of clandestine sexual activity , because we live in a society where all forms of nudity (except medical) are sexualized. It took me a while to understand that that's just how weird they think what an artist is doing. It seems as difficult for them to wrap their heads around how we think about it, as it is for us to be baffled at why they don't understand this.

Is it embarrassing? No. Are we titillated? No. Are we shocked or scandalized? Nope, although on occasion just as it was for you inthat moment, deeply funny.
