Part of the reason for this is we have allowed them to weaponize social media on their behalf. Doxxing, harassment, death and rape threats are the norm on social media now for anyone who disagrees, counters, or is bold enough to argue, with these deluded individuals and their sycophants, and nobody sane wants any of that.

This is what such people are doing to those they disagree with online just as a matter of course, and they have learned that throwing these online tantrums is a very effective way of shutting off all discourse because most "normal" people are conflict avoidant.

It makes me wonder if social media itself will become nothing more than a fad where only the severely deluded hang out with each other while the rest of us, the sane ones, wall ourselves off in online spaces they can"t access.
