One thing I can mention is that in the US, everything is also tied up with racial dynamics. In this country, white men (especially rich ones) are the only ones who get a pass on their atrocious behavior, because when a man (or even a child) of color does something horrific, everyone knows it's their fault for having made that bad decision. In fact some People will go out of their way to hold them accountable, kill, or punish them for their perceived (or actual) bad actions, and they are often automatically assumed to be guilty of something regardless of their actual innocence.

Remember when trump began his run for election, he was more than happy to call out Mexican men as rapists. White men will be happy to call out men of color, gay men, and transgender women, all day, whether or not they've actually done anything to be condemned for, then use that as an excuse to kill and punish those people, all while claiming they're doing that to protect white women and children. The loudest ones can't actually seem to do that against any white men for whom they make excuses or victim blame! They never deserve punishment!

Here, there are always those people who will excuse white men's atrocities, while being sure to condemn men of color for theirs, or hell, sometimes just blaming them for the atrocity! Is a black man dead at a white mans hands? It's the black man's fault or he deserved it! Did a white man rape or sexually assault a child or woman (of any race)? It won't be his fault! No one wants to ruin his more valuable life by bringing him to Justice. America has a long and well documented history of doing just that.

Here, when it comes to white men harming others, people will haul out all manner of excuses for why he should be absolved or never even mentioned in the event lest his life be upheaved. Hopefully #metoo can begin to change that
