One of the reformations of law enforcement and the Justice system that is sorely needed is that often law enforcement picks and chooses which crimes they are going to investigate based on who the victims are, or whether or not there's money in it for them, (which is why there's so much insistence on going after minor traffic crimes).
Sex workers are the one group of women, regardless of their race, that it's okay for people to openly hate or disregard in every industry. Our entertainment industries celebrate and objectify their deaths, law enforcement doesn't investigate their deaths, and most people won't even know they're being preyed on.
Black people have had a special term, for a long time, for this lack of regard for women of color as murder victims too. "Missing White Woman Syndrome", because only conventionally attractive, straight, cisgender, respectable or married, and middle class, white women ever get any attention.
