One of the biggest problems with the people on the Right is how stuck they are in the past. They not only want to go back to a past version of America that, quite frankly, never existed, but think the world is still like it was thirty, forty ,or even fifty years ago. The more desperate it's leaders become the more vile they and their followers behave in an effort to cling to power.

It's horrifying to watch these people and their followers in action, and now that they've been set free, it's going to take a couple generations for them to go back to the fringes to which they were first banished, but I try to keep in mind, that this is yet another social panic that will pass. I'm old enough to have lived through two or three of them. When it passes, the people involved will act as if they've woken up from some type of dream, act as if it never happened, refuse to acknowledge it ever did. Just like all of the many social panics over the last fifty/sixty years that such people have been stampeded into like mindless cattle, there will never be an apology for their madness, or responsibility for the harm they caused.
