Once again, it seems I’m the outlier here, but speaking as an artist, I like it just fine. I’m looking at all the tattoos as a whole, and it’s the skin equivalent of large negative space next to a vibrant or busy color. It’s a beautiful contrast with the tattoo sleeve on the other arm, and very striking. Is it racist? I’m inclined to think it isn’t.

I’m not particularly offended by it, because context, nuance, and intent sometimes does matter. That said, that won’t stop somebody, somewhere, from trying to claim it is. I don’t think anything at all about it is race related, but I’ve been wrong before. (I don’t think many black people know it’s a thing, and I’ve seen truly black skin, and it doesn’t look like that.)
