I hate that movie too, but mostly because I found it so incredibly depressing. And the kicker is the real world looks so similar because white men have been in charge. It's funny how the world goes to hell and that's the only time Hollywood gets interested in depicting PoC and women being in the future.

It's also an example of all the worst tropes I mentioned in the essay: The Mighty Whitey, The Chosen One, The Average White Guy, and the whole "The World Is Destroyed When White Men Are No Longer In Charge", and The White Savior trope, too.
