Oh, and it's been my observation that light skinned women learn how to accept compliments because they get them more often. In fact, quite a number of them have been fawned over their whole life, os they KNOW people find them attractive without a doubt. This may not be the case with dark skinned women who have probably received fewer compliments no matter how gorgeous they may be.

I'm not dark or light skinned. (I'm caramel colored.) People have given me compliments, even today, in my fifties, but not all the time, and I don't know how to accept them, except to be baffled at why. I know I'm not ugly, but I do find my looks unremarkable (I see me every day. I don't think I'm staring at material!). She might simply think she's cute but not especially remarkable.
