My mother passed in November. Before that I and my brother and little sister were her primary caregivers. This involved a great deal of physical care as her condition deteriorated! I’m only just dealing with the incredible amount of time I have free now, and my lack of exhaustion.
I did all that for my mother while working a full time 35 hour a week job, which I took a month off for in the last month of her life, and I was still horribly fatigued. Taking care of a disabled person requires an immense amount of time! I cannot imagine doing all that and having kids too.
The people who say things like that are psychopaths. There’s no way I could’ve abandoned my mother to focus on my “career” or making more money.
