My favorite Superman story, above all others, was when he first met Billy Batson, aka Captain Marvel, and discovered he was actually a child, and the righteous fury he expressed to the gods, for putting a child in the position of making adult decisions. To me, that is the embodiment of Superman. I grew up with the Christopher Reeve version, who perfectly captured him. Reeves just GOT Superman, in a way no one has since, and I still miss him, even though I like Snyder’s version just fine.

My favorite version of Batman is the one from the comic books, who will sit down and swing with a little girl villain, and hold her hand, just before she gets carted off to Arkham. That version of Batman is one of infinite compassion, even for the criminals he beats into submission, which is why he refuses to kill them. No. Not even the Joker.
