Jordan Peele also cannot be replicated. There are gong to be movies that try to rip off his style, but only Peele can do Peele correctly, because of his unique background as a comedian, and a Black man, with a successful show under his belt.

I think the future of horror lies in diversity. It’s an industry where all of us have been mostly subjected to the things that scare white men. Sure some of those messages really resonated but the same messages are starting to get old.

More and different voices are what’s needed to keep things fresh. We need women, Black people, Indigenous people, Asian Americans, etc. to be allowed to speak on what scares them. Peele’s Get Out comes directly from his lived experience as a Black man, which really resonated with people. Every time a woman has mad a horror film, it was a very different movie than any others I’ve ever seen, (like Beloved).

Also the kinds of things white men feared, for several generations, is not what this newest generation of young people fear, and this new generation are far more knowledgeable and sophisticated about filmmaking, and the world, in general, for them to get away with many of the stories that have been told over and over again.
