I've observed that the only people who seem to have the biggest problems surrounding the free speech of others are all those white men who are never on the receiving end of hate speeh/rhetoric and disinformation. They're always calling for people on the receiving end to be calm, grow a thicker skin, be more open minded, and listen to the a**holes who are talking and writing hateful sh** about the latest outgroup.

As far as I know white men aren't being murdered or beat up in the streets, or having various laws passed against their existence as white men, so its very easy for them to remain detached, and play this game where they advocate for those who spout the kind of bigotry we've heard our whole lives, isnt a new thing we need to learn, constantly be subjected to, or argue about. I never see this kind of handwringing about free speech from LGBTQ, the disabled, or PoC.

Hate speech and behavior online isnt something that is directly affecting white men enough to affect their levels of comfort on any level, so its very easy for them to pretend its not happening or unimportant.
