It's not just misogynists who are part of this dynamic. I've observed that its any group of people that hate others from a place of dominance. They are obsessed with that group, think of nothing but harming them, and apparently, the impulse and compulsion to do so is irresistible. It's not enough for them to leave the people they hate alone. They have to dominate them and put them in their place.

Most of us, when we dislike someone or something, simply avoid interaction, because its unpleasant and we prefer interacting with pleasant people and things.

But for racists, homophobes, misogynists, and bigots of every other stripe its about controlling and dominating the people they hate.
