It's frustrating here, because white people in the US want to accept all the invisible and unearned privileges that go along with being white, but don't want to accept any of the horrific histories of colonization that made those unearned privileges possible. They want to only be given credit for the good things their ancestors did, and none of the responsibility of fixing those things, countries, people, their ancestors worked so hard to break.
