It's articles and posts like these that help me to illuminate racial issues that women of color often face! I often reflect on how certain kinds of socialization impact black women differently (because it does,) because we get socialized for the same reason (centering and coddling men) but in a different manner.

Black women are socialized to center men by shaming. With white women it's a carrot and a stick, but with us it's just the stick, and I wanted to reflect further on why that is. We don't get rewarded for going along with our socialization. We're shamed no matter what we do, because a black woman who doesn't resist, and goes along, gets horribly taken advantage of by predators, often Black men, and called weak and useless by other women. I wonder if this works the same for white women. (Not being white, I have no idea.)
