It’s arbitrary performative bs! None of the things being done in academia are any of the things PoC have asked for which includes the banning of random words! We’ve been asking for certain accommodations and behaviors from academia from decades but instead of doing what we’ve asked them repeatedly to do we get lukewarm pointlessness like banning random words nobody mentioned as being racist. I’m almost tempted to just give up and tell them to just stay off our side except they’d find a way to do that wrong too, thereby making the situation worst.
