It’s also equally important to see Black people in movies and shows as heroic and adventurous!
I’d recommend shows like Luke Cage, and Black Lightning, which discuss a whole variety of Black issues while dealing with extraordinary events and people.
For Black versions of James Bond, I’d watch Queen Sono, or Shadow, on Netflix, which features Black spies, and adventurers.
But two of my favorite movies about growing up Black, that I can directly relate to, are Roll Bounce, and Crooklyn.
There are a wealth of movies out there about Black life that don’t only deal with racial trauma, like war movies (Dead Presidents, The Walking Dead), horror (Tales From the Hood), and SciFi (Brother From Another Planet) included.
