It is unlikely that his followers will ever wake up to what theyve been doing. People like that will usually simply move on, never acknowledging that they ever did anything wrong or out of the ordinary. In fact, all of the mania, paranoia, transphobia, and conspiracy thinking we’re seeing today will be largely forgotten by those who are the most heavily engaged in it, as if it never happened.

We’ve seen them do this before, where people engage in some form of mania (The Satanic Panic for example) just act like it didn’t happen and forget all about how they behaved. They just move to the next outgroup. Most of them have by now forgotten the immigrant concentration camps and the Muslim ban they all championed a few years ago.
