Is Pamela Paul a transgender woman? If she is then I would be more inclined to give some weight to her claims, but if she isn't then she needs to understand that as a cisgender woman she doesn't get to apologize and absolve other people of their bigotry nor does she get to define it for the purposes of offering such apologies. Only those who are on the receiving end of that bigotry get to define it or forgive it!

The people who are the perpetrators of the division do not get to define it!

It's amazing to me how much energy people have for kissing Rowling's ass, rather than using that energy to call out and condemn the levels of hell that transgender people have been undergoing the past few years. Since it costs nothing at all to lend one's support to either one side or the other, it is extremely telling of one's character which side a person chooses.

When are people going to realize that open bigotry doesn't need to be expressed for your character to look bad? The standards they are wiling to accept and support say a lot about their character, and that goes for Rowling too. She doesn't ever have to say anything blatant to be called transphobic, but who she lends her support to is very telling.
