In all likelihood they probably weren't! These generational wars are often fomented by the mainstream media because it's yet one more point of contention that can get views and clicks. The mainstream media will make up topics no one was even thinking about, to spur engagement, and then several thousand people who cannot think for themselves (or observe their immediate surroundings) adopt whatever viewpoint was espoused about the group in question, whether it's their own children and grandchildren, trans people, black people, or brown skinned immigrants!
I live with and around Millenials and Gen Z. I've found that most Gen Z. (they are my family members, friends, and coworkers), and most of them are pretty fun to spend time with. I'm mostly impressed by Gen Z and refuse to hold bad judgments about an entire group of people because one or two of them act a fool, or because the talking heads on tv told me too . These generations are every bit as hard working as we all are/were. They have to be! They're hustlers and second jobbers, and everything we all did!
