I’m really starting to hate this turn of phrase, “America is divided.” When was America ever united?! During the genocide of the Indigenous peoples? Or aren’t they American? Were we all united during the enslavement of African people? During the Civil War? Perhaps we were united during Jim Crow segregation? Or perhaps it was while black men were being lynched, and I’m sure that the interred Japanese, the missing and dead Indigenous women, and Mexican immigrants were feeling all of this one-ness, that America has been divided from!

America ain’t never been together! That’s like claiming someone got a divorce from someone they never met…
