I’m one of the few people I guess who isn’t mad at her either. I was mostly puzzled about why she was so insistent but despite all the hate she’s received she has never wavered in her conviction that she is a Black woman, and I kind of respect that. I don’t hate her and you’re right. We’ll give honorary status to people who don’t merit it but not her. And sadly, most of this hatred was led by Black women.
I also grew up in Black neighborhoods that had a smattering of white people in it who for all intents and purposes were indistinguishable from their Black neighbors in their attitudes and behavior. I’m used to it. I got into a discussion once with a Korean guy who acted entirely like any of the Black boys I was surrounded by (he wore BKs, talked slang, listened to rap music, hung out with a crew of Black guys, loved Black girls). I met an Italian guy in college who was probably Blacker than me!😄
I was used to people like her.
